Nigel Eveleigh Bowl on Slate Plinth
Sawdust fired small decorative ceramic bowl on slate plinth. The saw-dust firing creates a finely tactile finish with subtly blended colouring to look like worn stone.
Nigel has been producing his stunning saw-dust fired ceramics in his beautiful Georgian farmhouse on the north Devon coast for the past 15 years. He uses a combination of clays, slips and earth pigments to create individual sculptural work that has an unmistakable aged quality. Most of his work has a title giving each piece a special timeline and meaning.
“The characteristics of clay respond to my changing moments of thought and ultimate decision, enabling me to create and inform my ideas into permanent structures”
Nigel often incorporates reclaimed materials in his work such as antique oak, forged iron and stone adding to his unique style. Strength of form, markings, texture and colour from the environment are a constant source of inspiration and motivation. His imagination and awareness bring together new work that is fresh, ever changing and increasingly recognisable.
