The Girl Rona Feb 2012 Wood Engraving Print. Monochrome print mounted and unframed. The Girl Rona story..."I was returning from a trip away and as I approached Teignmouth from Haldon Moor I saw this boat on its side and stranded on the bar beyond the river mouth- being heavily pounded by the sea. I collected my camera and sketchbook and ran down onto the beach to collect information. The tide was low and I went out as far as I could and as close as I could and started sketching and photographing. I was so immersed in the job that I didn't see the wave approaching until I was submerged almost to my waist! I had gone down on foot and so I had to return in the same way, soaked and frozen all the way up the hill!"
Paul Warner's landscape works progresses daily. He sometimes works in colour; his first love is unashamedly that of the monochrome image, often toned to support the ambience of the subject matter. Nothing matches its dramatic impact and emotional intensity.
