Susan Brown specializes in low light coastal photography where of course a tripod is essential and her main problem is protecting her camera from the abuse of the salt water. Her use of wide angled lenses means she is often very close to a hostile sea. Sue works with an awareness of the various intensity of light and colour temperature 'painting with available light', going out in all weathers
She is facsinated by man's influence on the coast; the photographs included in this book include breakwaters, sea walls, piers, and salt-water sea pools, sometimes in a state of dereliction.
'The Coast' book is a fine example of how five expert photographers bring their own perspective and interpretation of the coast to create images that evoke emotions, reflections and memories.
