Jane Deane's love of wool and silk has brought us this wonderful book that shares her passion, experience and knowledge. Co-Authored with Alison Daykin.
Reconnect with the ancient craft of spinning with her inspiring craft book suitable for beginners and experienced spinners alike. The clear instructions for the craft will then take you on to 30 different projects.
Jane is delighted that living in the UK provides her with a huge variety of breeds and many, many crossbred sheep. Whatever your end product, there is a sheep somewhere in the UK who will have the right fibre, whether you are after a fine, soft yarn for a baby’s shawl or a coarse, hardwearing yarn for a stair carpet.
She has been playing with some form of textile construction for as long as she can remember and has been practicing as a textile designer and tutor for many years. "I love to start with the basic raw material of a textile, the fibres, and prepare them appropriately using hand carding, wool combs, drum carders or simply by washing them and using them as they are. Very often I will dye the fibres before spinning, mostly using natural dyes".
